Rafael Nadal made his first appearance of 2010 at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday. The Australian Open title defender seemed sharp as usual.
Rafa appeared in a red top, white shorts and light gray shoes, everything manufactured by Nike. The Spaniard practiced his serve, the volleys and of course his baseline shots.
Nadal had a great start to the 2010 season. He first won an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi, defeating Robin Soderling in the final. Next he played remarkably at the Quatar Open in Doha, where he qualified for the final without losing a set. The perfect run ended in the last match of the tournament as he lost against Nikolay Davydenko.
It was an unusual defeat for Rafa. He won the first set 6-0 and had 2 match points in the second. Eventually he lost it 6-7. Next he lead 3-1 and had 2 break points in the decider, to end up losing it 4-6. Read more

Davydenko upsets Nadal in Qatar Open thriller
Nikolay Davydenko managed an incredible comeback to win the Qatar Open Final. The Russian upset World Number 2, Rafael Nadal, after a thriller final at the Exxon Mobile Open.
Nadal started the match impressive and was up 4-0 on the scoreboard by the 14th minute of the match. The Spaniard continued to play impressive tennis as he did the whole year, so far, and nailed the first set 6-0 after half an hour of play.
Rafa won his 7th game out of 7 to open 2nd set with a 1-0 lead. It’s true that the opening game of the second set lasted 13 minutes, but there where no signs for what was about to happen. Read more
