Rafael Nadal has won the 2010 Madrid Masters. His success is even more prestigious after managing to defeat Roger Federer in the Final. The Swiss Champion was the defending Champion, after defeating the Spaniard in the 2009 Final.
‘The king of clay’ obtained a straight sets win after yet another impressive performance. Nadal has booked some more major records. He is now the sole record holder of the most Masters Series 1000 titles. The Madrid Masters success is the 18th of his career. Roger Federer 6-2,7-6 Benjamin Becker Highlights
Roger Federer has started his Madrid Master title defense with a straight sets win in front of young German, Benjamin Becker. The Swiss Champion broker Becker twice in the first set to clinch it with 6-2. However, Federer did not manage to break again in the second part of the match and a tiebreak was played. Novak Djokovic retires from the 2010 Madrid Masters
World No. 2, Novak Djokovic retires from Madrid Masters 2010. The Serbian star struggled this week at his home tournament, where he had to retire from his QuarterFinal encounter against, Filip Krajinovic.
Djokovic claimed an allergy as he retired after losing the first set 4-6. Novak said that he also had the same problems during his first match at the Serbian Open and that he needs rest in order to heal. The Serbian has also added that he will not play in the upcoming Masters Series 1000 event, hosted by Madrid.
The 2010 Madrid Masters starts Monday, May 10 and and will last until May 16. In 2009, Djokovic played an epic encounter against Rafael Nadal, in the semis. Read more
