Isner snatches Auckland Open title
John Isner managed to win his first ATP title in Auckland. The American defeated top seed Arnaud Clement to grab the trophy and 250 ATP points.
The final was a 3 set thriller, with Isner snatching the first set 6-3. Clement came back to win the second set 5-7. The decider could have gone either way, with Isner saving a match point. The American found two more huge serves to score 2 aces and send the match into a deciding tiebreaker.
Isner stepped-up a gear to lead 3-1 and 6-2 before clinching the title. The American is currently ranked No. 33 in the world and he just made it into the 2010 Australian Open seeds list, benefiting from Simon’s withdrawal, caused by a right knee injury. Read more
Dementieva crushes Serena and wins Syndney International
Elena Dementieva eased pass, world No. 1, Serena Williams, to grab the 2010 Sydney International title. The Russian star crushed Serena to obtain a comfortable straight sets win.
The Sydney International final lasted 75 minutes and saw Dementieva breaking 5 times Serena’s serve. The last time was in the game that brought her the title. Elena managed a love break and snatched the glory.
Serena Williams obtained her best performance at the Sydney Open. Her previous best run was the semifinal stage. So, this means good news for all Serena fans. The American won the Australian Open 4 times so far without managing to play the final in the Sydney warm-up tournament. This year she got to the final, what should this mean?

Marin Cilic defends Chennai Open title against Wawrinka
Marin Cilic successfully defended his Chennai Open title with a straight sets win against Stanislas Wawrinka.
The Croatian giant had yet another great week at the Aricel Chennai Open. Everything climaxed today with the final win against Wawrinka.
Cilic used his most important weapon, his huge serve, to win this important encounter. Wawrinka had his chances to win the first set but it was Marin who grabbed it after a tiebreak.
The second set started great for Cilic who raced for a 2-0 lead. However, Wawrinka managed to break back very fast and leveled for 2-2. The Croatian star missed his first match point at 5-4. Read more
Roddick defeats Stepanek for Brisbane title
Andy Roddick won the Brisbane International tennis tournament earlier today. The 27-year-old American came back from a knee injury this week. It’s his first event after a 3 months long break from the ATP tour.
Roddick obtained a straight sets win against Radek Stepanek. The first set was balanced and the two players decided it in a tiebreaker. Andy hold his nerves and raced to win 7-2 and grab the opening set.
Roddick continued his great run and broke Stepanek twice, early in the second set and climbed to a 4-0 lead. Read more
Davydenko upsets Nadal in Qatar Open thriller
Nikolay Davydenko managed an incredible comeback to win the Qatar Open Final. The Russian upset World Number 2, Rafael Nadal, after a thriller final at the Exxon Mobile Open.
Nadal started the match impressive and was up 4-0 on the scoreboard by the 14th minute of the match. The Spaniard continued to play impressive tennis as he did the whole year, so far, and nailed the first set 6-0 after half an hour of play.
Rafa won his 7th game out of 7 to open 2nd set with a 1-0 lead. It’s true that the opening game of the second set lasted 13 minutes, but there where no signs for what was about to happen. Read more
