The former World Number 1 had suffered a strain at the left gluteal muscle. This raise questions at the Belgian star decided not to play at the Medibank International, who is ongoing this week in Sydney.

However, Henin returned after a two years break to Melbourne Park’s hard courts and should try to fully recover from her minor injury until the start of the Open. She also will look to adjust the minor flaws of her game that made her lose the Brisbane International title.

Kim Clijsters defeated her after an epic 3 set battle. The 2009 US Open champion is yet to arrive at the Melbourne Park.

Henin has received a wildcard for this year’s edition of the Australian Open, as it’s to soon for her to rank in the WTA tour after re-starting her tennis career.

She also got a wildcard for the Sydney tournament mentioned before. It was her last chance to play official matches before the Aussie Open, but it seems that she played more as expected in Brisbane and preferred to protect her body before the first Grand Slam event of the season.
