Roger Federer 7-6 4-6 7-6 3-6 6-3 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga AO 2013 Highlights

Roger Federer claimed an epic win this evening at the Rod Laver Arena and grabbed a ticked for the 2013 Australian Open Semifinals. The Swiss Champ matched up with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a spectacular 5-setter.

Roger raced out of the block-start as usual to open the match with a break and immediately go up 2-0. Tsonga recovered sooner than expected and managed to level the score at 3-3. They went head to head and the set was decided 7-4 for Roger in the breaker, although one feels that it should have been Tsonga’s set.

The Frenchman took control of the match and level the score at 1-1 after winning the 2nd set 6-4. The 3rd set was the most balanced one and it could have gone either way. Federer raised his game just in time to grab the send breaker with an identical 7-4.

Tsonga was not impressed and replied with another clear set win, 6-3. It seems that Federer saved his energy for a final assault which he mastered and although Tsonga fought until the end, the Swiss Champ grabbed the win with 6-3 in the decider.

Federer will face Andy Murray on Friday for a ticket in the big Final. Djokovic and Ferrer play this evening during the first Semifinal. You can follow live online coverage at Livetennis.org.
