Roger Federer 6-2,7-6 Benjamin Becker Highlights
Roger Federer has started his Madrid Master title defense with a straight sets win in front of young German, Benjamin Becker. The Swiss Champion broker Becker twice in the first set to clinch it with 6-2. However, Federer did not manage to break again in the second part of the match and a tiebreak was played. Federer with problems in opening match – AO 2010 – Day 2
Roger Federer had unexpected problems with Igor Andreev in his opening match at the Australian Open 2010. The World No.1 played at a lower level and allowed the Russian to grab the first set 6-4, after leading with a break.
In general the entire match was filled with breaks of serve. Roger recovered fast and stepped up a gear to win second set, 6-2. The third one was really tight with numerous breaks for each side. Andreev ended up with 3 set points, on serve. He failed to grab them hitting 3 unforced errors.
Federer grabbed the last break of the set to send it into a tiebreaker, which he comfortably won. Andreev collapsed in the 4th set both mentally and physically, to surrender 0-6.
Day 2 did not provide any major upsets. All seeds went trough to the next round, both in the Men’s as in the Women’s Singles tournaments. Read more
Davydenko denies Federer a Doha Final ticket
Nikolay Davydenko produces the surprise in Doha. The Russian defeated Roger Federer, just 2 minutes ago, for a place in the Exxon Mobile Open final.
Davydenko won in straight sets, 6-4/6-4 to deny Federer another meeting with his arch rival, Rafael Nadal. The Russian broke Federer’s serve early in the first and second sets. He managed to hold serve and win the semifinal rather easily. Read more
