Australian Open Finals The 2010 Australian Open ended with two blockbuster Singles Finals.

The Women played first, on Saturday, January 30. Serena Williams, the defending title holder, and Justine Henin clashed at a sold out Rod Laver Arena. The tennis was excellent and the fans completed it. It ended up to be a 3 set thriller with ups and downs for both players.

Serena won the first set and was very close of snatching the second set to complete a successful title defense. However, Justine, playing only her 11th official match after returning to her professional tennis career, stepped up a gear and won the second act, 6-3.

Williams got the better of Henin in the decider and won the 2010 Australian Open Women’s Singles Final, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Roger Federer was the winner of the Men’s Singles tournament. The World No.1 defeated Andy Murray and added one more Grand Slam title to his records. This Final was only 3 sets long. Roger obtained a rather easy straight sets success. He only encountered serious problems in the 3rd set.

Andy Murray was very close of sending the match into a 4th act, but he wasted 3 set points during the 3rd set tiebreaker. The match ended 6-3, 6-4, 7-6.

The Doubles Championships where won by the Bryan Brothers in the Men’s event and by the Williams Sisters in the Women’s tournament. The Mixed Doubles title was grabbed by Cara Black and Leander Paes.

That’s all from the Australian Open 2010. We will back next year with even more exciting tennis matches!
